School Programs
4-H partners with schools to bring hands-on learning experiences into the classroom. Our programs align with educational standards while engaging students in STEM, agriculture, leadership, and life skills.
Through interactive activities and real-world applications, we help students grow their knowledge, confidence, and curiosity. Programs are available upon request for elementary, middle, and high schools -- free of charge. Scroll down to see what we offer!
School Programs
4-H School Programs are educational experiences delivered during school hours in partnership with teachers and schools. These programs bring hands-on, research-based learning into the classroom, helping students develop important life skills while reinforcing academic subjects.
4-H school programs can be short-term activities or longer-term projects and often align with STEM, agriculture, environmental science, leadership, and healthy living. Examples include:
🐣 Embryology – Hatching chicks while learning about life cycles
🌿 Agriculture & Gardening – Exploring where food comes from
🔬 STEM Challenges – Robotics, coding, and science experiments
🗣 Public Speaking – Building confidence and communication skills
🌎 Civic Engagement – Learning about leadership and community service

SCHOOL PROGRAMS
EMBRYOLOGY
TIME: 21-25 days
REQUIREMENTS:
- Permission slips from all parents/guardians
- Group enrollment in 4-H Online
- Source for unfertilized eggs
- Home for chicks at end of program
- Brooding box (cardboard box or sterrilite container)
The 4-H Embryology program brings science to life by giving students a hands-on look at the life cycle of a chicken! Over the course of 21 days, students will learn about egg development, incubation, and hatching, observing firsthand how chicks grow and emerge from their shells.
This program teaches biology, responsibility, and patience, while sparking curiosity about agriculture and animal science. Whether in a classroom or at home, 4-H Embryology is an engaging, unforgettable experience that connects students to the wonders of life! 🐣💡🌱
SCHOOL GARDENS
TIME: 1 season-indefinitely
REQUIREMENTS:
- Group enrollment in 4-H Online
- School Gardening for Educators Course Certification
- Space at your school for raised beds
- 1 hour per week to dedicate to garden maintenance
The 4-H School Gardening Program gives students a hands-on experience in growing their own food while learning about science, nutrition, and the environment. Through planting, tending, and harvesting, students explore topics like plant life cycles, soil health, pollinators, and sustainability.
This program helps foster responsibility, teamwork, and a connection to agriculture, while also encouraging healthy eating habits. Whether growing vegetables, flowers, or herbs, students gain valuable skills and an appreciation for the natural world—one seed at a time! 🌿🥕🐝
AFTER SCHOOL CLUBS
TIME: 1 semester - indefinitely
REQUIREMENTS:
- Group enrollment via 4-H online
- 1 hour per month for an afterschool meeting
Our 4-H After-School Clubs offer a fun, engaging way for youth to explore their interests in a safe, supportive environment. Whether they’re passionate about STEM, arts, leadership, or agriculture, our clubs cover a wide range of topics to spark curiosity and creativity.
These hands-on experiences help students build new skills, make friends, and develop leadership abilities while having fun! From robotics and coding to gardening and creative arts, the possibilities are endless.
IN-SCHOOL VISITS
TIME: 1 HOUR PER VISIT
REQUIREMENTS:
- Set date for school visit
- Content choice: General, STEM, Ag & Livestock, Natural Resources, Healthy Lifestyles, Civic Engagement and Leadership
